Hacking the Business Climate

Tonight, I listened to Bruce Schneier’s keynote address entitled, Fixing Network Security by Hacking the Business Climate from the O’Reilly Emerging Technology conference hosted in May, 2002.

In his address, Bruce makes the excellent observation that increased complexity of software results in “a decreased level of” securty. I could not agree more. He also states that technology will not “solve” the “security problems we face today; rather, security is fundamentally a social” issue that requires everyone’s involvement (from the clueless CTO to the lowly junior programmer).
